Bioenergy Association for Sustainable Development “BASD”
BASD is an NGO, working in the field of Bioenergy regionally and has raised awareness, supported and promoted the biomass technology applications in Egypt since 2009. Institutionally supported by the Egyptian Ministry of Environment.
Bioenergy is the way of the future. It is the most used form of renewable energy globally – more than hydroelectricity or wind, providing heat, electricity and fuel for transport and has potential investment opportunity.
Increasing our application of bioenergy technologies is indeed for the economic growth through responsible consumption, new businesses and employment that will strengthen communities.
BASD supports beneficiaries, donors, and entrepreneurs in order to create an appropriate environment for the implementation of bioenergy technologies and its activities.
We provide advising and a dataset to support business members and promote their expertise and capabilities for undertaking activities in the region with regards to bioenergy and biomaterials. BASD promotes and coordinates the expansion of regional bioenergy and biomaterials sector and support its businesses grow and flourish.

Main Purpose
Apply and develop bioenergy technology and its applications to increase the declining percentage of greenhouse gases emissions from the energy sector in the region to 10% by 2063.
